Growkit El Choco Full Auto

The El Choco Full Auto growkit is a hand-prepared kit with live Psilocybe cubensis mycelium of the El Choco line. We make the substrate ourselves. What goes into your parcel is a fresh batch, not a block that has spent weeks in cold storage.

El Choco is not Golden Teacher, Aztec God or DC Mak. Golden Teacher is the baseline line. Aztec God is a Mexican cubensis. DC Mak belongs to the Melmac family. El Choco comes from the classic B+: an isolate with noticeably darker pigmentation. A different mycelium colour, a different look for the line, different material to compare in your collection.

The Full Auto format stays the same: a closed system with a growbag and a filter, with no daily airing or misting. You observe the El Choco mycelium and document the colonisation speed and the colour contrast compared with light-coloured cubensis strains.

The product is legal in Poland as material for observation, education and collecting. The kit contains mycelium. At the time of purchase, the mycelium does not contain psilocybin. Fruiting bodies of psilocybin mushrooms are illegal.

History of the El Choco line

El Choco is a relatively young isolate. In mycological circles it is linked to the work of Dave Wombat from around 2020. The starting point was ordinary: B+, one of the most vigorous lines of Psilocybe cubensis. A phenotype clearly darker than the rest appeared in a batch: a chocolate-toned cap, denser tissue, a different texture. This variant was isolated and stabilised.

The name comes mainly from the colour, not from the map. “Choco” means chocolate. The Chocó region in Colombia is sometimes added as an association, but the line is not a wild collection from the rainforest: it is a laboratory selection from B+.

For a collector, something simpler matters: the El Choco growkit shows how far cubensis pigmentation can move away from the golden Golden Teacher standard while keeping the vigour of B+. It is not just another label on the same block.

El Choco mycelium profile

El Choco mycelium inherits its speed from B+. It colonises the substrate eagerly and fairly evenly. The difference lies in the colour and the “weight” of the picture. With light-coloured lines the block is snow-white or cream. With El Choco the network is often deeper and warmer, sometimes with a more distinct shadow, hence the opinion that it is one of the darker mycelia among popular cubensis strains.

In collector descriptions, the El Choco line has a fairly consistent set of traits:

• a dark caramel to chocolate cap, sometimes with lighter fibres on the surface,
• a rather low and compact habit, not tall and slender,
• a thick, cream stem,
• vigorous mycelium, with a speed closer to B+ than to the slow isolates of the Penis Envy family.

It is good material if you have already looked at golden and honey-coloured lines and want to see a cubensis with stronger pigmentation. The El Choco growkit from PanGrzyb.pl is meant to show exactly this contrast: that is why we fill it by hand and check that the block is actually fully colonised before it ships.

For someone who has had a first Golden Teacher, El Choco is a convenient second or third kit: growth is still easy to follow, but the picture under the magnifier is different.

El Choco and psilocybin mushrooms

El Choco mushrooms are Psilocybe cubensis. The fruiting bodies of this species contain psilocybin, hence the questions about effects and dosage. In collector descriptions El Choco is sometimes rated slightly higher than standard B+, but that is not the subject of this page.

This shop sells a growkit with mycelium. Psilocybin is not present in the mycelium at the time of purchase. It appears only in the fruiting bodies. Growing and possessing fruiting bodies is prohibited in Poland.

This page does not include El Choco dosage, a description of the experience or harvest instructions. The El Choco growkit is for legal observation of the mycelium. Any other questions go beyond what we offer.

What is in the kit and what to do after delivery

In the El Choco growkit you get:

• a block with live El Choco mycelium,
• a growbag with an air filter,
• a clip,
• a magnifier.

After delivery, put the kit in the fridge if you are not starting observation straight away. A temperature of 2-4°C slows development and protects the viability of the mycelium. El Choco, like any fresh mycelium from B+, does not like being left in the warmth or in a parcel locker. Collect your parcel without unnecessary delay.

When you take the kit out for observation:

• straighten the growbag so that the filter does not stick to the back wall,
• do not cut the bag open and do not take the Full Auto system apart,
• place the growkit at a stable temperature of 20-26°C, away from strong sunlight and radiators,
• leave the mycelium alone: this format does not need to be opened every day.

This is how to handle the product, not instructions for growing fruiting bodies. The point is to keep the El Choco mycelium clearly visible: for the magnifier, photos and the microscope.

How to store the El Choco growkit

Freshness decides whether you see deep, lively colonisation or a tired, greying block.

• keep the kit in the fridge until you start observing,
• do not leave it in the car or by a window,
• do not open it “just for a moment”,
• once opened, do not go back to long storage as with the factory packaging.

In the fridge, the El Choco growkit usually keeps from a few weeks to a few months, depending on the batch. The shorter the journey from our workshop, the better you can see the line’s characteristic colour.

The large variant is approx. 3300 ml and over two kilograms. With pigmented mycelium, more substrate is simply more visible. We keep the small variant for a comparison test.

Growkit, spores and instructions

El Choco is searched for both as a growkit and as a culture or spores. These are not the same product.

The El Choco growkit already has live mycelium on the substrate. You watch the colonisation, the colour of the block and the speed. Spores or liquid cultures are for work on a Petri dish. If you only need the inoculum, choose a separate product page.

The kit instructions cover the fridge, straightening the bag and the observation temperature. They are not harvest or dosage instructions. We do not answer the question of when to harvest El Choco: harvesting fruiting bodies is outside the intended use of the product.

Legal information

The El Choco growkit contains Psilocybe cubensis mycelium. The mycelium does not contain psilocybin at the time of purchase. Psilocybin mushrooms in the form of fruiting bodies, as well as psilocybin itself, are covered by the Polish Act on Counteracting Drug Addiction.
